Acorn Holdings Africa develops, manages and invests in affordable rental housing, with a major focus on purpose-built student accommodation in Kenya.

Acorn Holdings Africa describes itself as a vertically integrated real estate business spanning development management, property management and real estate investment. Its student-accommodation platform includes the Qwetu and Qejani brands and two REITs launched in February 2021. Founder and CEO Edward Kirathe led Acorn’s 2019 Green Housing Bond, which became the first green bond to list on the Nairobi Securities Exchange and later the London Stock Exchange. Acorn reports more than 15,000 student beds in its wider portfolio, with more than 6,000 operational.
