Financing and housing opportunities
Housing finance, explained carefully.
Finding a property is only part of the challenge. Paying for it is the other part.
This page explains how GetLegacyHomes is designed to help people explore housing finance opportunities, what the Legacy Wallet and premium membership are intended to do, and what GetLegacyHomes does not do.
Why financing belongs in a property ecosystem
A person can find the right home and still be unable to pay for it at the moment they need to. That gap is one of the most common reasons a housing search stops.
GetLegacyHomes therefore has a role in connecting eligible users with legitimate financing opportunities and housing finance partners, in the same environment where they discover properties and speak to owners and professionals.
The role is one of access and connection. The money, and the decision to provide it, come from the financing partner.
How a financing opportunity is designed to work
Each programme has its own rules. In general, the path looks like this.
Express interest
A premium user tells GetLegacyHomes which financing opportunity interests them.
Check eligibility
The programme rules are applied to see whether the user can proceed. Rules can include premium membership and a period of sustained savings.
Facilitate the connection
Where appropriate and permitted, GetLegacyHomes shares the information needed and connects the user with the relevant financing partner.
Partner assessment
The financing partner carries out its own independent assessment of the applicant.
Partner decision
The financing partner makes the final decision. GetLegacyHomes does not make it and cannot promise it.
The parts of the programme
Select a topic to read how it is intended to work. The figures below are the current proposed structure, and management may change them.
The Legacy Wallet
The Legacy Wallet is intended to build a stronger relationship between you and the ecosystem. The idea is to encourage people to build real housing savings over time, rather than registering and immediately asking for financing.
Sustained saving over a period is one of the ways a premium user may show that they are ready for certain housing opportunities. It is not a guarantee of any opportunity.
- Encourages steady housing savings over time
- Savings history forms part of the programme eligibility rules
- Rules, limits and terms are set out in the applicable programme terms and may change
Premium membership
Selected housing finance opportunities are intended for premium members. Premium membership can also give access to other features, such as certain communication features.
Being a premium member does not by itself qualify anyone for financing. It is one of the conditions that programme rules may require.
- Required for selected financing opportunities
- May include access to other premium features
- Does not guarantee eligibility or approval
Housing mortgage financing access
Under the current proposed structure, a premium user who maintains savings in the Legacy Wallet for approximately six to twelve months may become eligible for certain housing finance opportunities.
Eligibility is subject to the applicable programme rules, the approval of GetLegacyHomes management and the independent assessment of the relevant financing institution. Management may change the requirements.
- Approximately six to twelve months of sustained savings for certain opportunities
- Subject to programme rules and management approval
- Subject to the financing institution’s own assessment
- Never a guaranteed entitlement
Move In Now, Pay Later
Move In Now, Pay Later is a proposed controlled programme for qualifying premium users who may be able to move into participating housing opportunities before the full payment is available.
The current proposed starting requirement is active premium membership with at least USD 50 equivalent saved in the Legacy Wallet and maintained there for at least three months. Eligibility, property approval, repayment terms, limits and partner approval decide whether a particular person can take part. Management may change any requirement.
- Premium membership
- At least USD 50 equivalent in Legacy Wallet savings, as currently proposed
- Savings maintained for at least three months, as currently proposed
- Programme rules, property approval and partner approval still apply
What GetLegacyHomes does and does not do
What GetLegacyHomes does
- Presents housing finance opportunities to users
- Applies programme rules to see who may be eligible
- Collects the information needed for an application
- Connects eligible users with the relevant partner where permitted
What GetLegacyHomes does not do
- Lend money from its own savings
- Guarantee that any application will be approved
- Replace the bank, mortgage institution or financing provider
- Promise that saving a set amount means rent or a mortgage will be paid
A note on the MREIF programme
The Ministry of Finance Incorporated Real Estate Investment Fund (MREIF) is an example of a housing finance programme that operates through participating financial institutions. In programmes of this kind, the participating institutions remain responsible for lending and for assessing applicants.
GetLegacyHomes is not stated to be a partner of MREIF, and nothing on this page should be read as saying so. This page will be changed only if a partnership is actually confirmed.
For the current requirements of any programme, always check that programme’s own official channels.
Questions about financing
Does GetLegacyHomes provide mortgages directly?
No. GetLegacyHomes is not a bank or mortgage lender. It facilitates access to housing finance opportunities, and financing decisions are made by the relevant financing institution.
How do financing opportunities work?
Each opportunity has its own rules. In general, a premium user expresses interest, programme eligibility is checked, and where appropriate and permitted the user is connected with the relevant partner.
The partner assesses the applicant independently and makes the final decision.
What is Move In Now, Pay Later?
A proposed controlled programme that may allow qualifying premium users to move into participating housing opportunities under set rules. Eligibility, limits, repayment terms and partner approval apply.
If I save money in the Legacy Wallet, will my rent or mortgage be paid?
No. Saving does not automatically mean that anyone will pay your rent or approve a mortgage. Saving can be one of the conditions for being considered for a programme, and the outcome depends on the programme rules and on partner approval.
Are the requirements final?
No. The figures on this page are the current proposed structure. Management may change requirements, and the latest programme terms always apply.
