Galliford Try

Construction Unverified

FTSE 250 UK building, highways and environment contractor created in 2000 by merging Try Group (founded 1908) and Galliford (founded 1916), headquartered in Uxbridge.

Galliford Try plc was created in 2000 through the merger of Try Group, founded by the carpenter William S. Try in Uxbridge in 1908, and Galliford, founded in 1916 when Thomas Galliford started a steamroller-hire business in Wolvey, Warwickshire. It acquired Morrison Construction in 2006 and Miller Construction in 2014, and sold its Linden Homes and Partnerships housing businesses to Bovis Homes (now Vistry) in 2020, leaving a focus on building, highways and environment work. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and has its head office in Uxbridge.
