Skanska began as Aktiebolaget Skånska Cementgjuteriet, established in Malmö in 1887 by Rudolf Fredrik Berg to make concrete products, and won its first international order within ten years. It entered the US market in 1971, was listed on the Stockholm exchange in 1965, and adopted the Skanska name officially in 1984. Headquartered in Stockholm and led by president and CEO Anders Danielsson, it reports construction, residential development, commercial property development and investment properties segments, with notable projects including the UN Headquarters renovation and the World Trade Center Transportation Hub.
