Kier Group plc was founded in 1928 in Stoke-on-Trent, initially specialising in concrete engineering before moving into general contracting and housebuilding. It was listed on the London Stock Exchange from 1963, acquired by Beazer in 1986, bought out by its management in 1992 and relisted in 1996. After a 2019 restructuring that included selling its Tempsford Hall headquarters in Bedfordshire, its head office is at 81 Fountain Street, Manchester, and it operates in building, civil engineering and support services.
